Lisbon, Portugal

This week I’m taking you to Lisbon, which is one of my favourite cities. It has everything you could want in a city- beautiful architecture, the sea, history, great food and friendly people. Oh, and cakes, but more on that later!

When we were there we had mixed weather, as you can see by the storm clouds in some photos, but it didn’t spoil our trip.

Lisbon is pretty easy to walk around and it has a good underground system for getting to places outside the centre. However, if the hills are too much for you, you can take the tram through the little streets. Even if you don’t mind the hills, you should take tram 28 anyway, just be careful and keep your hands inside the glass-less windows!

Once you get up to Sao Jorge castle, you’ll have a great view over the Alfama and the city.

When you’ve finished exploring the city centre, you can head out to Belem, where you can see the Monument to the Discoveries, the Tower of Belem and the Jeronimos Monastery. It is also, and probably most importantly, the home to pasties de Belem, the best pastries ever!

I’ve been craving these little pastries lately and they’re just not the same here. Might be time for a little trip!
